

B & H Engineering provided construction inspection services to the New York State Department of Transportation for the preventative maintenance work on seven viaducts. The locations of work are the 96th Street Viaduct, 42nd Street Ramp, and South Street Viaduct on the Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) Drive in Manhattan; and the Coney Island Viaduct, Owls Head Viaduct, Hamilton Avenue Ramp, and Battery Tunnel Viaduct on the Belt Parkway / Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) roadway system in Brooklyn. The construction inspection services consist of providing field inspections; monitoring safety and maintenance and protection of traffic; coordination with NYC agencies, other contractors, and utilities; reviewing contractors schedule, equipment and staffing; monitoring contractor’s EEO requirements; conducting wage rate interviews; processing payments and change orders; and maintaining office records. The contract includes the following work: the repairs to concrete pavement on several viaducts; replacement of epoxy overlay with new micro-silica overlay; sealing roadway cracks, replacing expansion joint sealants; thermoplastic striping; cleaning drainage scuppers and troughs; installation of bumper guards at street level of columns; replacement of bearings; structural steel repairs; painting of steel columns; and MPT on viaducts and local streets.
