

B & H Engineering is providing rehabilitation design services to the New York Department of Transportation as a subconsultant to Parsons Brinckerhoff for the replacement of 22 bridges on the Staten Island Expressway. The project provides for widening the Expressway from the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to the Goethals Bridge.
The design services consist of providing field inspections to perform an in-depth inspection of all bridges, monitoring maintenance and protection of traffic, safety, and coordination with NYCDOT agencies and other contractors during inspection; Investigations on alternates for rehabilitation; rehabilitation design, and submission of Preliminary and Final Plans, Specifications, and Estimates.
The following work is being performed: extension of abutments at all locations and new wingwalls, including new piles and footings, new structural steel and concrete roadway deck, new concrete safety barriers, new lighting, drainage, expansion joints, approach slabs, and pavement striping. Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Plans will be developed as part of the Contract Documents.
