pad11th Avenue Bridge



B & H Engineering is furnishing construction inspection services to the New York City Department of Transportation for the reconstruction of the Eleventh Avenue Bridge over LIRR & NYCTA at 61st Street in Brooklyn, New York. The existing two-lane, five-span concrete-encased steel superstructure will be replaced with a new steel and concrete composite structure. Rehabilitation will also include the reconstruction of abutments, piers, approaches, sidewalks, and utilities. This North-South bridge crosses NYCTA subway tracks for the Sea Beach Line and one LIRR freight track servicing the waterfront.

The construction inspection services consist of providing field inspections; monitoring maintenance and protection of traffic, and safety; coordination with NYCDOT agencies, other contractors and utilities; reviewing contractor's schedule, equipment and staffing; monitoring contractor's EEO requirements; conducting wage rate interviews; processing payments and change orders; and maintaining office records.

The project involves the replacement of a two-lane bridge which crosses NYCTA and LIRR tracks. The work includes: demolition and removal of existing bridge superstructure, removal/partial demolition and reconstruction of abutments and piers, installation of bearings, reconstruction of roadway approaches, new structural steel, concrete overlay, deck, parapets, and sidewalks, removal and installation of gas mains, water main, Con Edison electrical ducts, street lighting, traffic signs, and roadway drainage, staged construction, and MPT on bridge and local streets.
